What is Esports?

Esports, the simple abbreviation for ‘electronic sports’, is defined as a form of sports where the primary aspects of the sport are facilitated by the competitive playing of video games.

Events sanctioned by the NZESF must abide by its rules and regulations (passed down by the IeSF) to ensure integrity at the top level of competition. Brands endorsed by the NZESF are deemed to be supportive of the NZ esport ecosystem.

The New Zealand Esports Federation was approved as a full member of the IESF in November 2018 after a three year trial.
