Historic High School Esports tournament hits New Zealand shores: NZESF High School League National Championship

The New Zealand Esports Federation (NZESF) are proud to announce the first NZESF High School League National Championship. Starting this year, the NZESF will hold an annual National Championship esports event to crown New Zealand’s national high school esports champs across a variety of game titles. This year’s inaugural event will play host to three games: Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2 and Rocket League.

“As the first sanctioned National High School Esports League in New Zealand it’s fantastic to be able to offer three esports titles for the tournament,” says Ben Lenihan, President of the NZESF. “With more titles available to compete in we aim to reach a variety of high school students hoping to represent their school in a safe, fair and competitive environment.”

The NZESF have partnered with LetsPlay.Live who will facilitate the tournament and broadcast the Grand Final matches live from the LPL Studios in Auckland, New Zealand. Teachers, students and parents can tune in to watch their school team and support players in real time (dates listed below).

Erin Hughes, Head of Community and Leagues at LetsPlay.Live, adds: “We’re excited to be bringing this inaugural tournament to life across the November-December period, culminating in three days of live esports action in our Grand Finals.”

High school students will have from today until Friday 6 November 12:00pm to register their schools teams. Schools can have multiple teams for each game, but individual students must play on one team per title. Each team must have a member of faculty registered and confirmed as the team supervisor.
